What you'll do...
Housed within the Global Technology Platforms organization, our team is tasked with taking a lot of data about the company's technology usage and turning it into meaningful information that can be used to understand usage, make business decisions, and save the company money. One of Sam Walton's 10 rules for building a successful business was "Control your costs superior to your opposition. This is where you can always find the competitive advantage." As a member of the team responsible for making sense of over a $1B of spend information and sharing that with the organization, you play an important part in the company's success.
Your role would be best defined as a data engineer, but as with any role, the duties vary based on the needs of the organization. Common tasks include creating data pipelines to ingest data, researching data sources, combining them to enrich the data we're working with, and building APIs to expose the resulting information. However, the role will also include many other tasks essential to the success of our area such as assisting internal customers in understanding the information we have, providing analysis to answer leadership questions, building reports to make the information more successful, and sometimes even being a data janitor, ensuring that what we have is meaningful and accurate.
We don't use traditional "big data" tools like Hadoop and Spark to accomplish our tasks, but with tables and datasets measured in TiB, it's certainly not fair to call it small.

• A good understanding of SQL is a must
• Knowledge of with Python (in the context of Apache Airflow) is preferred
• Experience with public cloud (Azure, GCP), private cloud (Openstack), and other on-prem (ServiceNow, VMWare) consumption data is helpful
