Hi there! I'm Evan, one of the Co-founders at Scholars. I run our engineering team that currently consists of myself and 3 other incredible engineers. It is a really exciting time to join the company as we are small but growing rapidly. We are looking for someone with a strong technical voice who wants to feel their impact in the growth of the product.

Quick Overview

We help companies create engaging candidate journeys in order to predict and prevent reneges.

About Scholars

We are currently in the process of raising a $3.25M seed round led by Range Ventures in Denver, CO. However, our story dates back to April 2017, when we (Evan, Parker, and Ben) started our first company together. The three of us were undergrads at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, when we started our first business, QuikFix. QuikFix was a service that matched local homeowners with college students to complete odd jobs and chores for them. This is where our passion for the early-career recruiting industry began.

Over the next couple of years, the business grew and we began to learn from candidates and recruiters the pitfalls of the current early-career recruiting experience.

The insights we gathered from these conversations is what lead us to start Scholars in September of 2019. Our platform helps companies create personalized candidate experiences and collect insights to predict and prevent early-career turnover. Scholars is used by companies like DICK’s Sporting Goods, CDW, and GoPuff, to name a few.

We launched this platform in July of 2021 and have grown rapidly over the last eight months: acquiring customers, raising a seed round, and now hiring great people who want to grow this business with us.

An Insider's view of Scholars

What's the biggest problem your team is solving?

Companies are spending $150B failing to engage early-career talent at all stages of the funnel. We started with reneges but, we're striving toward providing a personalized experience throughout the whole process from the day a candidate first learns about the company, through their first few years on the job.

Ben Siegel

Co-founder

How do your team's ideas influence the company's direction?

Our product roadmap is heavily influenced by our customer's needs, employee brainstorming, and product research. We are still a small team with a flat hierarchy and really encourage all of our team to share ideas. We have product meetings monthly for anyone to join, ask questions, and share feedback that frequently impacts our direction.

Evan Deere

Co-founder

What makes someone successful on your team?

Someone who isn't afraid to ask questions and bring new ideas to the table will be successful on our team. We are a young, self-motivated group of people who are driven by our company mission and culture every day we step into the office. We crave new ideas and ensure every Scholars' employee voice is heard.
