Job Description: Space Ground System Solutions (SGSS), an operating unit of Parsons, supports the Naval Research Laboratory and is passionate about making our nation the undisputed leader in Space. SGSS is currently looking for an experienced full-time Software Engineer to lead a small team in the development of ground-to-space antenna services, including scheduling and resource management, interfacing with ground specialty equipment, and defining interfaces for external users. As an RDT software engineer, you will lead the team in architecture and design, implementation, agile team rituals, and individual contribution. The successful candidate will need to accommodate a work schedule that will go back and forth between the Alexandria, VA, office and our Washington, DC, site.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and Develop reliable, cloud-hosted software services and components to schedule, manage, transport, and integrate satellite ground system and ground-to-space communications capabilities.
  • Design, develop, and deliver 12-factor software components and services.
  • Design, develop, and deliver in an automated manner, environments into AWS as needed by the RDT.
  • Contribute to delivering, maintaining, and documenting DevSecOps capabilities supporting your own development.
  • Adapt and integrate contemporary software to compose, mature, and integrate legacy capabilities and interfaces.
  • Maintain a cloud and security mindset throughout the life cycle of the solution.
  • Research areas of improvements and design/implement enhancements working with other teams across organizational boundaries.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum active DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to attain TS/SCI
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience in related field (CS, MIS, Cyber, etc)
  • Not less than five (5) years of related professional experience
  • Deep experience with one or more industrial grade programming languages (Python, C/C++, Java)
  • Configuring/using build automation tools (Jenkins, Bamboo, etc.)
  • Configuration management using Git, BitBucket, etc.
  • Experience with the Amazon CLI
  • Familiarity with basic system administration of RHEL and/or Windows

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience automating cloud topology deployment, configuration, and operation using Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Bash, PowerShell, etc.
  • Experience with designs consuming cloud services/technologies, specifically on AWS (EC2, EBS, ELB, KMS, IAM, STS, CloudWatch, S3, VPC, security groups)
  • Demonstrated history of teamwork and software engineering team leadership
  • Experience designing and deploying cloud-native applications and services
  • Experience serving in security management in a classified IT development program
