Job Overview

This position is responsible for a small team that provides DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) support to the Enterprise Software Systems team and other software developers at Q2 Solutions Genomics. Systems and software are related developing bioinformatics workflow systems and applications software to support a large-scale gene sequencing lab.

Management Responsibilities

Manage the workload and assignments for a 5-6 person team of DevOps engineers Ensure that all DevOps engineers understand and execute work items as needed Track and report on team progress Act as primary liaison with multiple software development teams Act as primary liaison with IT and other impacted groups Ensure that processes and procedures for engagement and execution are followed Assist in the continuous improvement and documentation of DevOps process and procedure Assist DevOps engineers with meeting all compliance and training/education objectives Work with other managers on strategic DevOps objectives as needed Step in to assist with hands on DevOps engineering tasks when needed; see following

DevOps Engineering Responsibilities

Provide development teams with support including source code management and Azure DevOps pipeline adoption Support SDLC through automation of traceability and testing Contribute to the appropriate architecture & design of automation of unit tests and other build and deployment needs Support SCRUM Team as designated resource that facilitates collaboration Support problem and issue resolution across the organization and project teams As part of SRE team to ensure availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning Works closely with IT, networking, 3rd parties and others as required to support day to day development efforts Administration and maintenance of a Kubernetes cluster Collaborate with SW ENG to build Docker pipelines and automate tests Perform other duties and learning activities as directed

Minimum required education and experience

• Bachelor's Degree in related field - Computer Science, Math, or comparable field
• Experience in genomics, clinical, or highly regulated environment preferred

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities

• Experience with one of the cloud platforms - 2+ years
• Experience with Test Driven Development to ensure Software Quality
• Experience using a Linux environment using shell commands - 2+ years
• Experience enabling & supporting automated CI/CD environment - 2+ years
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability / willingness to learn bioinformatics / genomics
• Extra credit: Experience with NextFlow/Groovy or related work-flow software
• Extra credit: Experience with software development and/or testing
• Extra credit: Working knowledge of Bioinformatics, Genomics, or Life Sciences
