Job Description FUNCTIONAL GROUP RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Demonstrating expert knowledge in private, public and hybrid cloud architecture, workload types, migration patterns and tools.
  • Hands-on experience with various enterprise applications and IT services, as well as software development and IT operations disciplines.
  • Ability to suggest innovative technical decisions, get client buy-in and deliver commitments.


The ideal candidate should be comfortable being directly involved with the design, development, testing, and operation of the components that will make up the product infrastructure. Once implemented by JPMC development teams, the candidate will typically be expected to provide some higher level production and technical support for key customers of the product in the case of a serious outage. They will also provide comprehensive consultation to business unit and IT management and staff at the highest technical level. They will work closely with the product engineering team to identify and specify complex business requirements and processes that drive the platform roadmap. Additionally, they will research and evaluate alternative solutions and make recommendations for changes that would enhance the product.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Senior Solutions Engineer, you will be asked to:

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert and a trusted advisor to customers by sharing knowledge, advising best practices and delivering the best possible solutions to increase adoption of cloud products.
  • Craft technical content to help customers understand how to handle specific use cases or use standard methodologies
  • Execute the delivery of POCs for customers that have more complex use cases, collaborating with other engineering teams as needed
  • Build community knowledge and skills by supporting product deployments, training and mentoring.
  • Distill and communicate customer needs and product feedback to Product Management and Engineering


MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 8 years of experience designing & delivering software solutions that address complex cross-domain problems
  • Knowledge of at least one modern programming language (Python, Java etc) and related frameworks.
  • Experience with agile software delivery processes including practices like automated testing and CI/CD
  • Experience developing cloud native applications on platforms like CloudFoundry, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, Azure, Heroku, etc.
  • Consultative approach - the ability to analyze and resolve complex problems in collaboration with customers and colleagues
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and without supervision


HIGHLY DESIRABLE:

  • Passion to serve the customer, which has played out in some customer-facing role like consulting or support, ideally solutions engineering.
  • Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices
  • Proficiency in building/managing large scale infrastructure deployments (E.g. routers, load balancers, cloud products, container systems, compute, storage and networks) is a plus.
  • Experience implementing effective operational patterns like SLOs, metrics, health checks, error budgets, distributed tracing, etc., using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, ELK, Cloudwatch, Stackdriver, etc. is a strong plus
