You will be joining an all-star team of engineers working on a highly scalable and reliable data lake project. In this early stage the product is in very active development, and we are proud to say that we are building true innovation as we are aiming to solve some of the most challenging problems before data platforms such as consistency, atomicity, and isolation at a practically unlimited data scale.

We rely on modern technologies such as Golang and its ecosystem, we make heavy use of containerization and Kubernetes orchestration, along with the most popular monitoring and operations technology, and we build on top of some of the well-known projects in the field of data analytics such as Min.io and Trino. Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

• As a new member of the team, you will be expected to ramp up and get to know the project and the technology with the help of your fellow engineers.
• You will need to get familiar with other components in the stack and their integration points with the data lake.
• Within the first 6 months of your employment, you would be expected to be comfortable with the product server core codebase and be able to contribute to it.
• Within a year of your start, you would be able to participate actively in the code reviews and contribute to the product design. Furthermore, you should be familiar with the deployment topology of the SAAS solution and be able to join in the operations activities as needed.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

• You will be working on product design and implementation, describing, and documenting solutions, reviewing proposals by others.
• You will be assigned implementation tasks, predominantly in Golang, in areas such as:
  • The server core - a highly concurrent structure that controls the access to the underlying object storage layer.
  • The columnar data storage format
  • The various modules that we are building - S3 interface, SQL engine extension, etc.
• You will be performing root cause analysis and solving existing functional and non-functional (performance, scalability, reliability, etc.) problems.
• You will be working on the CI/CD of the project, involving a containerized Gitlab build
• You will participate in the product operations activities within the Kubernetes cluster where the product is hosted.

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

In the analytics platform team, we are proud to say that we are cultivating a start-up like culture. While we are following a Scrum development model, we also aim to keep the process overhead on the team as minimal as possible, which allows engineers to focus on engineering tasks rather than paperwork. We follow a scenario driven development, and we are focused strictly on our goals. We are bold in setting targets and eager to put our designs to the test as soon as we can. We are quick to recognize whether a past decision was suboptimal and willingly go back to redesign and rework portions of the product to meet user scenario requirements. Above all we value each engineer's

contributions by their merit and don't restrict tasks to titles.
