The Mobile Team

Volta’s mobile application is our user’s primary mechanism for interaction. It’s our primary interface for receiving feedback and will become one of the most differentiated pieces of Volta’s technology stack. The mobile team is at the forefront of user interaction between physical hardware and mobile platforms and will take advantage of substantial investments by the platform owners (i.e. Apple and Google) as electric vehicles become ubiquitous. Team members work on UX, business rationale, third-party integrations, and platform-specific features while interfacing with Volta's internal cloud and stations team to create a world-class charging experience.

This is an opportunity to make an impact in a number of ways in our Engineering department and the evolution of the company itself. You’ll have the opportunity to steer the architecture and development of our mobile stack to meet the go-forward needs of the business both from a feature, performance, and scalability perspective.

Responsibilities

• You’ll be engaged with feature areas including architecture, scoping, coding and testability.
• Diagnose, evaluate, and resolve relevant issues based on testing, and user validation.
• Promote processes to design clean, reusable, and resilient high-level architectures

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building successful mobile apps for Android (Java/Kotlin)
• Existing applications in application stores
• Strong technical skills and diverse playbook; well versed in industry trends and pros and cons of approaches
• Tech mentorship (i.e. can provide guidance and contribute to  architecture discussions)
• Experience with designing APIs and working closely with cloud teams
• Knowledge of a variety of agile methodologies
• Demonstrable ability to influence and interface across organizational departments
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Passion for growing your skills, tackling interesting work, and solving tough problems
