Senior Software Engineer - Front End - LitCharts
LitCharts is Scaling:
LitCharts, a Course Hero company, is looking for a Senior Front End Software Engineer to join our small entirely remote team that builds educational products for millions of readers around the world! You’ll be responsible for leading the front-end development for projects that span across LitCharts and CliffsNotes (another Course Hero company), like building out prototypes for features that enhance our products, all while collaborating with our product and design teams to build the world's best customer-centric literary resource on the web. To be successful you must be passionate about building and scaling the front end of our platforms while being able to work independently, mentor others, and understand our business needs.
This is a full-time role with limits on 100% Remote for US & Canada!
Here are some ways you will make an impact:
- Building and maintaining our front-end.
- Refining and improving our UI/UX on desktop, tablet, and mobile web with a focus on responsiveness, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Collaborating with the design and product teams to create, implement, and update features and designs.
- Translating designs and wireframes into well-crafted code.
- Add to the growth and success of two of the best literary resources on the web.
Are you our next Senior Front End Software Engineer?
- Proficiency with HTML/Haml, CSS/SCSS, and React/JavaScript.
- Experience with Git, Webpack, Babel, and front-end frameworks (especially Bootstrap).
- Experience with testing frameworks like Jest, Rspec, or similar and with writing tests.
- Experience implementing designs with a focus on cross-browser compatibility, responsiveness, and accessibility.
- Ability to work remotely and take ownership of projects with minimal oversight.
- A desire to continuously improve our stack and develop your own skills.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions and receive feedback.
- An eye for details in implementing designs.
Bonus points
- Proficiency with Ruby on Rails.
- Design experience (familiarity with making wireframes in Sketch, Figma etc).
- Heroku experience (familiarity with building and deploying apps on Heroku).
- Experience working on websites with a subscription-based business model (designing and building sign up flows, check out forms, and so on).
- Passion for education or education technology.
- Passion for literature.
- Passion for producing high-quality code.

We’re a small remote team, and the code you write will have a direct impact on our success. We work flexible hours but typically stick to 9am-5pm EST and are looking for someone able to do the same.
