Senior Software Engineer, Entertainment
Red Ventures is looking for a Senior Engineer to join our Media & Technology Entertainment team. The M&T Entertainment team supports and maintains client facing web technologies for TV Guide, Metacritic, and Cord Cutters News.
As a senior engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling pages for high-volume, high-traffic end-user facing websites. You will be working closely with our Product team to build and support new and existing features on our web sites while also maintaining core framework code within their web applications.
We are looking for a hard-working, accountable individual who can write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices. Ideal candidates should possess the ability to work as part of a close-knit cross-functional team, capable of solving complex issues with minimal guidance.
What You'll Do:
- Support and maintain cloud hosted, modern JavaScript and PHP web applications leveraging MVVM and MVC architectures.
- Consume and integrate RESTful services and 3rd party APIs into our websites
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Design, Marketing, QA, Operations and Editorial teams leveraging AGILE methodologies
- Troubleshoot site and environmental errors leveraging monitoring tools in collaboration with Product, QA, and Operations teams
- Assist in updating data APIs and their schemas through collaboration with our Apigee team
- Educate and mentor fellow engineers including code reviews, documentation, and code walkthroughs
What We’re Looking For:
- 4+ years experience with modern JavaScript frameworks, PHP or equivalent server-side web development language (ASP.net, JSP etc.)
- Familiarity with web standards, web performance, the DOM, cross-browser & cross-platform HTML/CSS/JavaScript with an emphasis on TypeScript
- Solid understanding of web server technologies (Node.js, Nginx etc) and caching fundamentals
- Experience being part of an agile development team with ability to estimate development schedules
- Experience working with container technologies in cloud computing (AWS, GCP etc.) CI/CD environments
- Familiarity with software development methodology and release processes
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- BS degree in Computer Science or Engineering
