What you'll do (Design & Development)
Digital Fulfillment - Logistics
Come join us in H-E-B Digital Fulfillment on the Logistics team and be a partner in building the next generation of grocery delivery. Our digital solutions, like Curbside and Home Delivery, are growing in popularity and adoption, so you'll get the opportunity to define the user experience for millions of customers and thousands of your HEB Partners. The DF Logistics team is primarily responsible for maintaining the solution that creates routes for our HEB delivery drivers. Some of these drivers transport product from one store to another, some are actually going to customers' homes to deliver their online orders. We partner heavily with data science team to ensure that we are providing the most effective routes to our driver team. It's a big problem with a lot of variables, and we're constantly adjusting our thinking to adapt to new situations.
At H-E-B, we hire first for problem-solving and growth mindset. We do not expect you to have experience with all of these technologies; a few specific experiences and a desire to learn in this direction are most important. If you are in doubt, please apply anyway!
What we would like to see

• Enthusiastic individuals looking to solve difficult problems; people that want to understand how things work
• Individuals that are willing to look outside of their own responsibilities to help improve the overall customer experience
• Individuals who with ownership mindsets that understand that delivering solid features often goes beyond the text on a Jira task
• 4+ years of application development experience
• We work with Kubernetes, Docker, Linux, GCP and Terraform. Experience with these or similar technologies is appreciated
• We work most often with Golang, Angular, Python and PostgreSQL. Experience with or willingness to learn these technologies is appreciated
• Experience with streaming services such as Google Pub/Sub, Kafka or similar.
• Comprehensive knowledge of CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and design patterns
• Advanced knowledge of system architecture and design patterns
• Experience with common software engineering tools such as Git, JIRA, Confluence, etc.
• An understanding of Agile development methodologies
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or comparable field

What you'll do (Design & Development)

• Contribute to overall system design, architecture, security, scalability, reliability, and performance of applications
• Support the build and deployment pipeline and when necessary, both diagnose and solve production support issues
• Identify, scope, and architect solutions for new features while applying sound technical judgment that considers technology alternatives, impact on affected / adjacent systems, and tradeoffs
• Work with Product, Design, and QA to deliver world-class digital experiences
• Get the opportunity to stay ahead of new technologies with an eye to evaluating and potentially incorporating them into your team's architecture
• Apply understanding to help improve the cloud infrastructure that powers our high-performance, consumer-scale site and mobile apps
• Collaborate on technical design and delivery of complex features across multiple systems to improve user experiences
• Recommend changes to processes and tools at the team level based on industry standards, patterns, and practices
• Diagnose / fix highly complex technical issues independently
• Communicate individual and project-level development statuses, issues, risks, and concerns to technical leadership and management; research / advise technical leadership in vendor negotiations
• Create documentation and training related to technology stacks and standards within assigned team
• Provide end-to-end support to applications
