Senior Software Engineer (Back End)
As a Senior Software Engineer you will work with an amazing team of engineers to collaborate, test and build modern back-end development. You will work to mentor a healthy team culture while teaching on how the department works together and learn how the different programs work together to make the department and the company work effectively.

Essential Functions:
- Build microservices using modern methodologies and tech stacks.
- Work closely with your team to choose the best languages, libraries and frameworks for the task at hand, and have a lasting impact on the engineering organization!
- Learn the underlying data and work effectively with SQL Server and our other data stores.
- Commit to the kind of automation and testing that allows us to respond quickly to the business and deploy code without fear.

- Collaborate with engineers outside your team through guilds, hackweeks, pull requests, design sessions, and tech reviews to broaden your knowledge, friendships, and impact.

- Collaborate creatively with top-notch product and design teams.
- Be a strong example of healthy engineering team culture, evangelizing the team’s principles and mentoring team members in how to apply them.
Education and/or Experience:
- 5+ years of software engineering or other closely related experience.
- 2+ years of mentoring and collaborating experience.
- Is willing to be a leader, engaging often with their team, other senior engineers, and leadership to guide best practices.
- Demonstrates proficiency in modern back-end development and makes well-reasoned design decisions.
- Has experience working with Java/Kotlin and SQL Server.
- Has a commitment to test coverage as a core principle - something backed by leadership.
- Has worked with Microservice/SOA architectures.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to problem solve unique & complex issues, both independently & collaboratively.
- Is passionate about investing in and mentoring other engineers.
Additional Desired Skills and Experience:
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure tools and technologies.
- Experience with .NET Core or Kotlin frameworks.
- Experience with ML concepts and technologies.
- Experience working in the freight industry.
- Loosely held, strong opinions about how software should be built.
