Job Description Summary
We are seeking a candidate with excellent software development skills to be part of a team that develops the next generation of GE's global mobile & collaboration solutions. The engineer will lead the design and build web UI and mobile applications using modern frameworks such as React, Angular and React Native. The developer will be responsible for assisting in the gathering of requirements, verifying designs with stakeholders, and implementing the code to build a final product. This position will coordinate with team members for design, development, and operations.

Job Description

Responsibilities• Be responsible for defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure• Provide technical leadership to an agile team of 5-7• Work with Product Line Leaders (PLLs) to understand product requirements & vision• Translate requirements / vision into prioritized list of user stories and deliver to required timelines and quality standards• Work with product line leaders and architects to develop multi generation software technology plans• Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse• Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities• Work cross functionally with other business departments to align activities and deliverables• Drive world-class quality in the development and support of products• Ensure team receives consistent messages and has clear understanding of business direction, strategy and results
• Proactively share information across the team, to the right audience with the appropriate level of detail and timeliness
• Engage subject matter experts in successful transfer of complex domain knowledge• Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques• Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project• Understand performance parameters and assess application performance• Work on core data structures and algorithms and implement them using technology chosen• Develop mobile & web applications using AngularJS and React
• Write unit tests and integration tests for applications
• Optimize performance of web applications
• Be able to implement responsive web design
• Work on 3rd level production support, troubleshooting complex issues and recommending solutions
• Research & follow industry technology trends to help GE stay current
• Participate in all phases of SLDC, including code reviews, writing automated tests, and automating deployments

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with Windows and Unix / Linux based programming
  • Experience with SASS/SCSS and modern CSS capabilities
  • Experience with dependency management such as RequireJS, SystemJS or Browserify
  • Experience with NodeJS and backend frameworks such as Express
  • 1+ Solid years' experience with React
  • Experience developing complex web applications
  • Experience with front-end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, React, AngularJS, NodeJS
  • Mobile development with React Native a plus
  • Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, Jasmine, Mocha)
  • Experience with build tools such as Webpack, Grunt or Gulp
  • Experience with implementing testable code and writing unit tests
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead small teams
