Senior Manager Solutions Architect (Remote Eligible)
As a Solution Architect at Capital One, you will be working with software engineering teams guiding architecture of Capital One IT Asset Management; owning and facilitating architecture development; reviewing architecture; providing feedback on application designs; providing input on company-wide initiatives; embedding in engineering teams to jump start complex projects; and helping raise the talent bar by recruiting and hiring top engineering talent. You will also work with product owners to articulate benefits of proposed solutions; influence the technical roadmap of enterprise platforms; and help business prioritize work. This is a challenging and pivotal role that requires a wide breadth of experience and knowledge. You need to be able to form a vision, back it up with your own lessons learned and technical expertise, communicate it well using many techniques at your disposal, succeed in influencing the teams and their leadership, and finally prove out architecture by working alongside the teams. In addition, we will rely on your thought leadership and evangelism to help Capital One IT Asset Management keep an eye out for new tech as well as implement best engineering practices. You need to be proactive, hands-on, and constructive.
As a Senior Manager Solutions Architect you will work with and apply technologies in categories such as:

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead domain destination architecture design for applications in the IT Asset Management domain
  • Provide solutions or guidance to feature teams to not only increase speed to market but also lower long term maintenance cost while meeting all non-negotiable no-functional requirements
  • Leading Trade-off and impact analysis work for hard to change technical decisions, and manage technical conflict
  • Develop patterns, best practices, or reference implementations via proof of concept or research and promote these in broader communities.
  • Acting as a thought leader and strategist with our delivery and product partners
  • Advocating for and representing IT Asset Management in the Architecture Review Boards, and various product, platform and architecture discussions
  • Presenting work products and strategies to product managers, technology leadership across Capital One
  • Defining, executing and continuously improving our internal architecture processes
  • Engage with other technology partners to further improve company common capabilities or to develop adoption strategies.
  • Develop junior developers via mentoring

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 6 years of experience in software engineering
  • At least 2 years of experience creating solutions architectures in a public cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering
  • 5+ years of experience as a Solutions Architect
  • Experience in distributed systems, API, frontend, microservices, data processing, databases(relational, NoSQL, or time-series), streaming/messaging platforms, DevOps, resilience and stability.
  • Experience to engaging, influencing and driving initiatives by partnering with technology executives
  • Experience mentoring software engineers or architects
