Why this job matters:

Develop the strategy and architecture for migrating andoptimizing applications and infrastructure in the cloud. Design and support the standards andmechanisms for cloud governance. Participate in all phases of cloud design,development, and integration. Support technical requirement definition,functional specifications, design documentation, vendor selection, and vendorintegration as core team member of project teams. Oversee the architecture,design, and development work for outsourced resources.

What you will do:

• Develop the strategy and architecture for migrating andoptimizing applications and infrastructure in the cloud.
• Participate in the cloud governance workgroup to develop andmaintain the standards for toolsets within Microsoft Azure or other relevantcloud environments.
• Build out the cloud migration roadmap for data andapplication assets
• Collaborate and work closely with multiple technical teamsconsisting of internal stakeholders, external vendors, information technologysubcontractors, and system vendors.
• Participate in formal, informal and program reviews.
• Direct on and offshore technology providers in execution ofcloud migration and optimization activities on testing and productionenvironments and accountability for their delivery.
• Ensure customer needs (product strategy objectives, userrequirements, and technical environment compatibility) are met. Formulatetechnical solutions, develop, and maintain architecture diagrams, and createand deliver presentations.
• Develop and maintain Architecture documents and artifactsincluding: solutions scoping, options analysis, logical and physicalarchitecture diagrams, AS IS and TO BE architecture models of existing systemsconsisting of Conceptual, Logical, Data Context, and System Context views; andIT Capability Roadmaps.
• Collaborate with external vendors to understand currentstate and ensure that technological strategy/vision is consistent andsupportive of future state. Additionally, optimize existing infrastructure,eliminating redundant applications and tools.
• Maintain awareness of technology trends and how they impactthe way businesses consume IT.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such asInformation Systems Management, Systems Engineering or Computer Science or a combinationof education and related work experience
• Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud architecture and tools
• Five to seven years of experience in infrastructure,database, and networking architecture for highly available, internet-scaleapplications
• Five or more years of experience at progressively increasinglevels of responsibility within information technology
• Five to seven years of experience in the design andimplementation of complex IT solutions (including scalable cloud-basedsolutions and microservices architectures)
• Experience with best practice ETL and software development,integration, configuration management methodologies and project managementoffice reporting

• Experience in the healthcare or health insurance industry
• Experience creating logical and physical data models usingrelational and/or dimensional modeling

Location:

BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, convenientlylocated near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associatewell-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based onrole:

• In-office: onsite 5 days per week
• Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
• Remote: onsite 0-1 days per week. Permitted to residein the following states, pending approval from the Human Resources Department:
• Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia
