Senior Engineering Manager

This position will provide leadership and management of the software products delivery and operations for all business units within Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) to ensure continued high quality of our products, solutions, and services.

This role is expected to be a leader in the Software Operations function, and drive Software and System test automation across CRM Research and Development. This role will work across organizational boundaries to develop a comprehensive verification strategy for developing software and system solutions using modern approaches such as automation, machine learning, etc., that deliver efficient and effective verification. This role requires someone with a passion for excellence, a change leader, and a desire to continuously improve the way we develop products.

Day in the Life:

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for verification strategy for the Software organization.
  • Responsible for managing end-to-end test evaluation team
  • Develop and grow team to build system level test automation capability
  • Design and implement DevOps (continuous integration) automation leveraging appropriate tools.
  • Define and implement metrics (or performance dashboards) to drive higher quality and schedule predictability across project teams.
  • Partner with software teams and R&D functions to drive software delivery of products and solutions.
  • Partner with R&D functions to develop comprehensive verification strategy to improves product quality and speed of development.
  • Lead, direct, organize and control planning for Annual Operating Plan (AOP) expense budgets.
  • Drive continuous improvement mindset for the organization (including lean principles to improve productivity) to achieve quality, speed and innovation.
  • Understand the external technology landscape and where CRM should partner with external partners or acquire external technology to meet our needs.
  • Provide functional and department leadership to organization and oversee organizational talent planning, performance management, salary administration, and employee relations issues.
  • Mentor, coach and develop software engineers to increase their effectiveness as well as employee engagement by creating a collaborative, learning environment.
  • Actively work to promote employee engagement through organizational diversity, culture, and team building.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other Technical Discipline.
  • Experience in Software and System-level testing.
  • 7+ years of product development, test development, or operations.
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience.


Nice to Have

  • Experience in design control for regulated products and knowledge of applicable regulations and standards used in regulated industries, such as ISO 13485, IEC 62304, ISO 14971, and 21 CFR 820).
  • Experience with Agile Development.
  • Strong people leadership skills, including performance management, talent identification, hiring, retention and motivational skills.
  • Strong collaboration and influence skills to succeed in a high matrix environment.
  • Strong communications skills and executive presence.
  • Proven ability to operate in a matrix organization and work effectively with senior leadership, customers, and across geographic, cultural and organization boundaries.
