As the Senior Engineering Manager of the Model-Based Systems Engineering team, you will be a functional leader developing our next generation commercial system for people living with diabetes. You will lead the effort to establish the architecture in the Systems Engineering Organization of Product Innovation, enabling future device, therapy and digital health capabilities, with a focus on designing components, modules and scaled platforms for extensibility, reuse and collaboration. You will accomplish this by collaborating closely with engineering teams to understand technology capabilities as they relate to meeting the goals of the business and working closely with cross functional partners to understand future technology/features needed by the market.

As a part of the Senior Manager job, you will implement a model- based systems engineering program including implementing collaboration tools, technology and processes. Medtronic Diabetes is the only producer of devices, apps and data spanning the entire commercial system of pumps, pens, sensors, apps, algorithms and cloud services for patients living with Diabetes. You will lead the team in creating processes to ensure a systems approach to design allowing us to capitalize on our strengths. Using your expertise in sysML, UML and common modelling tools including Enterprise Architect (EA) you will bring electrical, mechanical, embedded software, app developers, data science, systems engineering and cloud developers together in creating visualization artifacts of our commercial systems.

A Day in the Life

 

  • Plans, directs and implements all aspects of the company's model- based systems engineering approach to the development of new medical device products or software systems.
  • Develop, evaluate, implement and maintain processes, tools, training and technology related to the company's approach to model -based systems engineering.
  • Oversees the use of model -based systems engineering tools to oversee system design with a focus on reusing components and extensibility of product platforms while adding new technologies over time.
  • Guides the overall model- based systems engineering approach.
  • Directs the development of new concepts from initial design to market release through Core Teams.
  • Manages team of systems engineers staffing new product development programs using MBSE methodologies.
  • Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of research and development.
  • Organizes the coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery.
  • Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

 

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Sciences with 7+ years of experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with 5+ years experience with 5+ years of managerial experience

Nice to Have

 

  • Experience in building a model-based systems engineering architecture using a UML/SysML modeling tool (e.g. MagicDraw/Cameo or Enterprise Architect)
  • Experience implementing, growing and maintaining a model - based systems engineering program
  • Experience in sysML and UML standards and practices
  • Familiarity and expertise with MBSE tools such as Enterprise Architect
  • Industry experience in systems engineering from medical or other relevant regulated industries (aerospace, military contractor, etc)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and skills including presenting to senior management and working with peers to bring a team together
