Job DescriptionNordstrom Styling Experience is looking for an Senior Engineer 1 to join our technology team. Engineer Senior 1’s are technically proficient individual contributors and inclusive leaders on their team. They are typically responsible for outlining work beyond the scope of a single unit and mentoring other engineers across a wide spectrum of activities as needed.

The Styling Experience team is reimagining traditional shopping by creating engaging and personalized digital styling experiences for Nordstrom customers. This newly formed organization supports the existing Nordstrom Trunks, Style Links, Style Boards and Outfit curation experiences and platforms, and has an ambitious charter to create enterprise capabilities to support the vision of helping customers look good and feel their best through offering more personalized and relevant experiences.

As part of your team, you will analyze and deconstruct complex systems, platforms and processes and design solutions considering up/downstream integrations. These technology solutions provide amazing customer experiences while meeting the needs of the business. 

This is a full-stack role that uses React on the front end and node.js on the back end.

Core ResponsibilitiesDevelop backend services and building fault tolerant, scalable applications

Evaluate designs, provide feedback, and architect solutions for features and various technical tasks

Provides actionable feedback during systems and code reviews and when reviewing team designs

Pair and collaborate with other developers on the team to build great solutions

Ensure their work and that of their team members follows the engineering and security standards; contribute to the standards

Mentor team members on the best coding techniques and how/why coding standards fit into architecture goals

Designs software/network/systems deployment processes to minimize downtime and understands how to set up alerts that will detect failures.

Work with Product Managers and Designers to translate business needs into technical solutions

Follow standard industry practices for work tracking to ensure work is consistent, measurable, and within stated goals

Make technical tradeoffs between short term needs and long-term business needs and communicate them to product and technical stakeholders

Additional Skills

Experience with React and flux architecture

Experience with Node JS and server side JavaScript

Knowledge of Event Driven Architecture is a plus
