About the Job:
This is an excellent opportunity to join a world class consultancy focused on their Trading and Risk Management (TRM) practice. Our customers include some of the world's largest integrated energy and commodity trading companies. We are looking for a Senior TRM Technologist with exposure to Commodities Trading and Risk Management who is passionate about technology and has recent hands-on experience developing custom enterprise-wide solutions. The successful candidate is adept at partnering with end-users to elicit requirements, analyze problems, design solutions and ultimately deliver tangible business value & benefit. Collaborating with your peers, you will liaise closely with technologists across the global teams and our key business stakeholders and team members to ensure solutions integrate seamlessly into our landscape. You should have a delivery-focused background in an Agile environment and a desire to identify and develop strategic solutions while constantly looking to challenge the status quo to bring your ideas and strive for improvement
What You'll Get to Do:

  • Hands on development role with technical lead responsibilities
  • Work closely with business users to understand processes and capture requirements
  • Actively seek to identify and drive improvements and innovation
  • Acquiring business knowledge and system knowledge to further individual development
  • Work closely with existing development team to enhance the current ETRM platform including integrating with the Global Commodities application stack
  • Must demonstrate drive and initiative, be goal-oriented, dedicated, and self-sufficient.
  • Should be able to work well under pressure, adapt quickly to changing priorities and maintain focus on key tasks during busy periods
  • Responsible for designing and developing a technology stack, leveraging on a combination of existing platforms and building new strategic platforms
  • Close interaction with business users to understand new requirements for applications across the platform, specifically focused on risk calculation and reporting
  • Increase productivity of the technology teams' build and delivery cycles, and design system solutions to maximize operational efficiency of the business processes/workflows


What You'll Bring with You:

  • 7-10 years of development experience
  • Strong technical expertise in Object-Oriented and/or Functional programming
  • Strong background developing applications - Python application development is a bonus
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Experience with custom application development as a team lead
  • Understanding of Commodity Trading and Risk Management concepts including trade life-cycle, pricing, curve marking and management, and calculating and reporting risk
  • DevOps best practices using tools like JIRA, JUnit, GitLab, Artifactory, Docker
  • Significant work experience within commodity trading and risk management - gas, crude, power, or metals experience a plus
  • Experience in both physical and financial trading environments a plus
