Responsibilities

The Senior Application Engineer is responsible to translate software requirements into workable programming code. The Senior Application Engineer is also responsible for maintaining code in the context of production operations. While maintaining an in-depth understanding of at least one or more programming languages and related technology, the Senior Application Engineer will have a broad understanding of the field including but not limited to infrastructure, networking, and security. This position is responsible with defining, following, and improving existing software development practices. Must also understand the Quality Assurance domain.
Design Solutions: Ensure design of current and future solutions are aligned with the architectural direction.

  • Create detailed technical specifications and design documents through discussion with business analysts and clients.
  • Devise possible solutions to anticipated problems.
  • Clarify what actions the program is intended to perform by reviewing the requirements and engaging the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Adapt programs to new requirements, as necessary.

Software Development: Responsible and highly involved with all the facets of the software development.

  • Able to implement high-complexity features.
  • Develop code based on the design documents as well functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Produce clean and efficient code.
  • Review and debug code.
  • Unit, and integration test to check that output from the program works as intended.
  • Work with the quality assurance and other teams to ensure the successful handover of code and rest of the deliverables.
  • Write detailed documentation.
  • Release programs into production.
  • React to problems and correct the program as necessary.

Planning: Play an active role in the preparation of projects.

  • Comfortable with top-bottom and bottom-up planning.
  • Provide high level and detailed estimates.
  • Decompose work in work packages.
  • Prioritize project team and associated tasks.

Technical leadership: Ensure project team is correctly aligned regarding the architectural direction, scope, quality, and timelines.

  • Communicate all concepts and guidelines successfully to the development team.
  • Oversee progress of the development team to ensure consistency with the initial design.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and coaching to developers and engineers.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science, system analysis or related field, or a combination of education and work experience that provides the necessary skills to perform the essential job functions.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience of design and implementation experience in IT, with a deep knowledge in the following technical disciplines: middleware, database management, software development
  • Strong understanding of objected oriented programming
  • Must be familiar with C#, C++, Java
  • Strong knowledge of multiple development languages
  • Very strong knowledge of personal computer software and hardware, particularly Windows 7, Windows 10, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office product suite, Active Directory and Exchange.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are required, including the ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively with minimum supervision. Requires exceptional organizational skills, problem solving skills, and flexibility in changing priorities.
  • Be a team player with the ability to share knowledge and develop colleagues for the overall benefit of the team and organization

Desired:

  • Experience as a Software Architect
  • Familiar with tools and platforms such as Confluence, Jira, GIT, Jenkins, Ansible.
  • Good working knowledge of PLSQL, PowerShell, PeopleCode, CSS, HTML, Python, JavaScript

Salary Grade: S5
Minimum: $88,710
Midpoint: $110,887
