Job Summary

Amentum is currently seeking a REMOTE Application Programmer II to support an IT Managed Services program for the Department of Energy. The overall program includes a 500+ work force performing Enterprise IT support, Service Desk, and Telecommunications support across multiple facilities and locations, for classified and unclassified telecommunications and information technology (IT) systems for National Technology and Engineering Solutions of Sandia (NTESS).

As an Application Programmer II you will work with a team developing and/or maintaining web-based applications using tools such as Ruby on Rails or Java.

You will:

• Analyze functional business applications and design specifications for functional activities.
• Translate detailed design into application systems.
• Test, debug, and refine applications to produce the required product.
• Prepare required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation.
• Enhance applications to improve performance and add functionality.
• Provide technical direction to engineers to ensure program deadlines are met.
• Possess knowledge of and desire to follow IT Operations best practices and procedures such as issue management and incident response.

Position is Remote, but candidate must be able to be on-site as needed.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must have a Bachelors Degree and 6 years of experience OR Associates Degree and 10 years of experience OR High School Diploma / GED and 14 years of experience.
• Must be able to obtain a TOP SECRET (TS) or DOE Q clearance and maintain it for the life of the contract.
• Six years' experience working in full stack application development
• Six years' experience in Linux environments, relational database, experience in HTML, CSS, Javascript, Data Structures, and Algorithms.
• Six years' experience developing web-based applications using tools - such as Ruby on Rails or Java.
• Experience using Agile development methodologies.
• Effective oral and written communications skills along with a strong customer service commitment.
• Familiar with information security best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating front-end and back-end APIs to allow agnostic use of other front-end frameworks.
• Experience with Rails testing frameworks such as Rspec and Git.
