What we are looking for
We are seeking an experienced engineer to join our core team building features for our flagship product, Invest. Hundreds of thousands of users use Invest to manage their investments in an automated way. The team has many ideas on how to improve the product over the next year and is looking for something to help realize our goals. You’ll work with a cross-functional team to ideate, design, engineer, test, and ship new and improved features. We're hiring for our headquarters in Chicago, our office in Salt Lake City, and remotely across the US.
Some examples of projects you’ll be working on:
- Integrating with securities data partners, structuring the data in a way that is easily and flexibly consumable for our frontend applications
- Improve how we present performance to our clients, furthering their understanding of how their portfolio performs over time
- Refine and polish common user flows, from opening Invest accounts, to creating transfers, to editing Pies
What you’ll do
- Build new and improve existing features for Invest within both our React frontend and Node.js GraphQL API
- Design flexible, reusable API patterns that make it easy for us to iterate on the user experience quickly
- Build highly polished UIs that provide our customers with a clear understanding of how M1 is managing their money
- Develop and implement analytics, telemetry, and instrumentation across the stack so we can use data effectively to decide what to build next
What we’re looking for
- Experience in JavaScript application development experience, either frontend or backend
- Flourish in a highly collaborative environment, working with SMEs across the org
- Structured, organized thinker that is both attentive to detail and mindful of the big picture
- Adaptable, self-starter, goal-oriented, and growth-minded
- Excellent communicator and collaborator
It’d be great if
- You have experience across both the frontend and backend
- You have used GraphQL in a production setting
- You have finance industry experience, especially consumer fintech
