Guardian Industries is looking for you to join our team in Troy, MI as a Product Development Engineer!

As a Product Development Engineer, you'll be a part of a dynamic team developing new products for automotive and other customers. You will work closely with different cross functional teams to apply best practices and challenge with innovative solutions throughout the development process. This is a "hands-on" key position in the successful launch within SRG Global manufacturing.
What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Be a team member in a global organization leading product design and development
  • You will be interfacing with professional cross-functional team members in multiple capabilities such as design, tooling, operational excellence, APQP, and others
  • Design and develop new decorative injection molded products including front grilles, exterior and interior trim, and other painted and chrome plated components for different programs as assigned
  • Give product feasibility assessment and propose concepts from different studio themes and product interface development.
  • Utilize engineering disciplines as a integral tool through development and maintain proper documentation (DFMEA, DVPR, APQP, PPAP, etc.)
  • Meet all engineering milestone requirements and provide documentation of analysis
  • Utilize CAD software CATIA V5 developing with designers the product and drawings requirements
  • Develop product and application specifications documents for testing that meet our customer requirements and general market expectations
  • Present concepts and detailed requirements to customers and internal management relative to final design
  • Lead all design testing, dimensional management, and validation, systematically determining root cause and corrective action including redesign as required
  • Support Manufacturing and Quality during product launches through production sign-off and have travel opportunities to visit our manufacturing and customer sites
  • Utilize strong customer service skills when interfacing with customers
  • Provide clear communication and documentation to all supporting capabilities related to design changes and requirements
  • Desire to learn, be challenged and interact in a cross-functional team environment
  • Work with little direction and with high level of self-motivation and proactive problem solving within a group
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate well-organized project management skills


The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:

  • Three (3) or more years' experience in product design and development
  • Willing & able to travel up to 30% of the time


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred
  • Technical Leadership
  • Manufacturing Experience
  • Experience within plastics and/or decorated exterior products
  • CAD experience
  • Automotive experience
