Primary Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide configuration and deployment support for ADVA's Customers, with limited level of support and supervision including:
    • On site and remote support of installation and commissioning of ADVA's products
    • Utilization of implementation best practices, and contribution in further enhancing best practice to support scalable implementation solutions
    • Respond to and provide technical support and direction to any issues that may surface at the time of, or resulting from the implementation
    • Create deployment packages and maintain as-built documentation for installed network elements
    • Provide knowledge transfer during implementation phase to promote customer success
  • Provide detailed system/engineering design and Method of Procedure (MOP) documentation in advance of product deployment
  • Work with project managers and other stakeholders to identify risk and ensure overall success of customer network implementation
  • Train and lead ADVA Channel Partners on new products and field implementation practices
  • Administration and maintenance of equipment and tools used for support purposes



Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

  • The successful applicant for this role will have up to 5 years in designing, deploying or troubleshooting large scale optical networks
  • Experience with telecommunication transport systems, optical engineering concepts, technologies, instrumentation, test, and/or implementation methodologies is essential
  • Ability to be a team player, understand customer needs, build and maintain customer relationships and use technical expertise to develop customer solutions
  • Dynamic self-starter with ability to conceive of and accept responsibility for projects and see them through to completion
  • Ability to thrive in high pressure situations
  • Good technical background in WDM, OTN, fiber optics, Ethernet, and/or IP
  • Experience with Ethernet Services and IP related routing protocols would be preferred
  • Working knowledge of physical infrastructure design including structured cabling and fiber-optic cabling
  • Working knowledge about network management systems and management connectivity (DCN)
  • Practical experience with optical network test/measurement tools like power meter, OSA, BER testers, OTDR and other fiber characterization test sets
  • Highly desirable to have server and software scripting skills
  • Prepared to travel fairly extensively and have flexible working hours
  • Experience with MS Office; proficient with VISIO, Excel, and PowerPoint



Education

  • Minimum Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline



Travel Requirements

  • Up to 60% Travel
  • Travel to ADVA offices as required for meetings and trainings



Work Environment

  • Flexible schedule when working after hours or weekends
  • Working long or irregular hours
  • Travel to Customer sites
  • Professional office environment

Scope of Employment

  • Fulltime employment
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to clear full background check and drug test as required by state regulations
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and able to work using ladder or above the floor situations

Work Schedule

  • Flexible schedule based on customer activities
  • Office hours: Monday - Friday (flexible work schedule as agreed with manager)



Compensation Scheme

  • Goal pay compensation scheme
    • Base salary + individual goal pay + company goal pay
