SCOPE OF ROLE 

Are you an experienced Network Architect?  Do you enjoy working in fast paced environments?  Does leveraging cutting-edge technology to reimagine how Healthcare is provided intrigue you?  We are the Cloud Engineering team at Bright Health, and we are looking for a seasoned Network Architect to join our team.  The Cloud Engineering team is responsible for setting Cloud architectural standards and ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of the Production cloud environments.  The Network Information Systems Architect will work in a dynamic team and partner with teams across the company to design best-in-class infrastructure solutions to ensure that our Cloud infrastructure meets the needs of our growing customer base.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create roadmaps to advance key service offerings and identify opportunities to lead the development and execution of networking architecture.
  • Set network infrastructure standards and develop network security best practices for our cloud network.
  • Drive major improvement initiatives from ideation to implementation, including funding, planning, and providing support.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of Network Engineers. Promote career development and manage the performance of the team.
  • Define network solutions to increase network stability through automation , including identification and remediation of network and application performance issues.
  • Design network architectures and microservices that enable us to build and operate distributed highly available networks at scale.
  • Collaborate with other systems and application engineering teams to align strategy, make technical recommendations, and improve network performance.
  • Drive engagement with vendors, and analyze trends, news, and changes in relevant technical areas.
  • Work closely with our Security Team to make sure our environment is secure and adheres to our HIPAA and SOC2 commitments
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations.
  • Offer leadership, guidance, and training to other team members.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering or equivalent experience required,
  • 15+ years of experience in designing and building large scale networks.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience managing Network Engineers required
  • Subject-matter expert in networking principles and protocols TCP/IP, ISIS/OSPF, and BGP routing protocols, MPLS overlays, and Layer 3 VPNs, RSVP, VxLAN, EVPN, MACsec.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of Networking design patterns, Hub Spoke Topology, and Zero Trust models  
  • Significant experience with CLOS architectures, Whitebox switching, and software based load balancing.
  • Working experience in building cloud-based network infrastructures and managing interoperability connectivity  (Azure, AWS, and OCI)
  • Experience with Network Infrastructure as Code (NIAC) and deploying network configuration using automation frameworks (Terraform, Ansible, Chef, etc)
  • Solid experience in hybrid cloud, and data center designs
  • Experience implementing networking monitoring and network observability tools
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, written & oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to work with a distributed team across multiple time zones
  • Must exhibit meticulous attention to detail, and have the ability to make good, timely decisions
  • Demonstrate self-learning capabilities, taking initiative in a fast pace/quickly changing environment
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the Microsoft Azure Platform and its networking components, Edge, WAN, Regional Gateways, Network Peering,   VNets, NSGs, UDRs, VPN Gateways, Availability Zones, and Traffic Manager 
  • Experience with Cisco IOS, Meraki
  • Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) exposure is a plus
  • Significant experience with networking concepts including subnetting, routing, routing protocols, Firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention systems (IDS/IPS), Application Gateways, Web Application Firewalls (WAF) and Traffic Managers (both local and global)
  • Expert level knowledge of Disaster Recovery architecture including data replication, RPO and RTO
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership and manage technical projects, including identification of project scope, requirements, deliverables, and coordination of project design and implementation activities

LICENSURES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  •  CCNA, CCNP, and or CCIE

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The majority of work responsibilities are performed in an open office setting, carrying out detailed work sitting at a desk/table and working on the computer. Some travel may be required.
