General Summary:

Over the last few decades the Modem systems group at Qualcomm has been instrumental in driving the mobile communication revolution which has touched every aspects of our modern life. From the early days of CDMA to 3G UMTS to 4G LTE , LTE Advanced and now onto 5G NR, Qualcomm modem systems group has been a key player in moving these technologies from concept to lab to actual mass scale real life deployments. The QCT modem systems power team focuses on achieving industry leading power consumption on Qualcomm modems. In this position, you will be involved in all stages of the design cycle with multiple teams (from the RF to the baseband, from physical layer to protocol layer, from SW to FW to HW) guiding the power-efficient design of the end-end solution. Responsibilities include:

• Identification, analysis and triage of system level issues to optimize power
• System level power modeling, analysis and optimization for Qualcomm Modem solutions
• Optimizing power-efficiency and performance of current generation designs and helping to architect future products
• Guiding multi-functional groups through the design cycle to realize the power targets set forth at the inception of the project
• Architecting of power efficient systems
• Design of power features and working with a wide set of teams across the company (systems, software, hardware, etc.) in the productization

Minimum Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 1+ years of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in EE,ECE, Computer Science, or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in Modem Communication systems design and/or Architecture.
• Experience in software or hardware design, development, and commercialization of System-level modem or power features.
• Modem architecture, software engineering and simulation design, microprocessor architecture, embedded software, data network protocols knowledge.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Passion for learning and intellectual curiosity.
• Systems/HW background with a good understanding of microprocessor architecture and modem architecture.
• 3-5 years of experience in wireless communications industry - PHY/physical layer
• Software engineering and simulation design, microprocessor architecture, embedded software, data network protocols are also useful

The responsibilities of this role do not include: • Supervising direct reports.• Influence over key organizational decisions.
