Materials and Processes EngineerCompany:The Boeing CompanyJob ID:00000282224Date Posted:2021-11-11-08:00Location:USA - Huntington Beach, CAJob Description Qualifications: Boeing Research and Technology (BR&T) is seeking a Materials and Processes Engineer to join our Mechanical Systems team in Huntington Beach, California.This role is an engineering position that supports both R&D (research and development) and the production of various programs both within BCA (Boeing Commercial Airplanes), BDS (Boeing Defense, Space, and Security), and BGS (Boeing Global Services).Position Responsibilities:

  • Assists with definition of requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and/or maintenance of Boeing products.
  • Drafts engineering specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes.
  • Assists in evaluation of emerging technologies for potential application to business needs.
  • Assists with development and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements.
  • Performs routine tests and audits to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements.
  • Conducts routine analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes.
  • Assists in implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develops computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements.
  • Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements.
  • Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at listed location.This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience with manufacturing processes for fastener systems
  • Experience with failure analysis (performing or review)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Materials and Science engineering, Metallurgy, Aerospace engineering, Mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering
  • Experience working with fastener suppliers
  • Experience creating new ideas and working it to qualification including coordinating with suppliers developing part concepts, identifying qualification testing, developing test procedures, oversee testing, and analyzing results
  • Experience with maintaining system documentation for fastener systems processes and procedures
  • Experience working with operations/manufacturing environment
  • Experience with program support
  • Experience finding solutions to problems in the design, production, and sustainment phases of a program

Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standardRelocation:Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position.
