Maritime Undersea (MU) is a growing business focused on delivering complex solutions from seabed to space!As an MU Mechanical Design Engineering, you will be part of a bi-costal team delivering the best solutions for today's complex undersea engineering challenges. Our products range from unique Integration Mission solutions to highly capable Autonomous Extra-Large Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (XLUUVs).As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing engineering solutions for key mechanisms and structures, and leading other to ensure full system designs. In this role you will be joining a cross-functional team to progress our products through the development lifecycle. You will have opportunities to collaborate with the Chief Engineer, technical experts, and our customers, as well as provide technical support to suppliers.The day-to-day activities of this position will be a combination of traditional design engineering (including CAD, drafting, drawing reviews, etc), collaborating with cross-functional peers, leading and mentoring others, presenting technical challenges and solutions to leadership, and Technical Supplier Management (TSM).Our Bi-Costal team is located in Herndon, VA and Huntington Beach, CA - with active growth at both sites!A Top Secret Clearance and ability to obtain additional clearance will enable you to engage on our most cutting edge programs.Travel This position will require some travel to suppliers and other Boeing locations to support development, test and production (typically less than 10% travel).Typical Education/Experience: Typical minimum 9 years of experience in an engineering discipline, or a Masters and 7 years of related work experienceBasic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience ): **This position requires an active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance pre start for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related technical field
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience designing mechanisms and/or primary structure in aerospace or maritime applications
  • Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring others
  • Experience designing with CAD Tools
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with multiple organizations
  • Must be willing to submit to a CI Polygraph

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements
  • Experience with undersea products, and the associated impacts on material properties
  • Experience with Engineering Release process (including conceptual design, drawing review and approval)
  • Experience with production and fabrication support, including:
    • Material Review Board (MRB)
    • Non-Conformance (NCR) disposition
    • Supplier Information Requests (SIR)
  • Tools: NX, CATIA, TeamCenter, NASTRAN
