Manager, Web Engineering(M2)
Disney Streaming (DS) is looking for a talented and motivated Manager to join the Web
Core Services Infrastructure team. We are a distributed devops team focused on
synthesizing complex cloud-first tooling into a friendly developer experience. We own
tools used to build, test, deploy, and monitor Disney Streaming’s web-based products
including Disney+, Star+, Hulu, and ESPN+. Our product is the automation that creates
artifacts that are analyzed, tested, published, deployed continuously, and consumed by
millions of fans around the world.
As a manager in Web Core Services you will help cultivate an environment where
people can do their best work through strategic thinking, coaching, and career advocacy.
You will own the delivery and quality of your team’s commitments to its customers and
collaborate across the organization to ensure appropriate prioritization. You should have
a passion for servant leadership, team building, and empathy-driven development.
The Web Infrastructure Manager will lead a team of devops and front-end engineers
charged with facilitating the release of applications into production. In this position you
will collaborate daily with application developers, project managers, test engineers,
sysadmins, AWS support engineers, and software vendors.

Responsibilities-Build a diverse & prolific software development team through a combination of training,
career development, recruiting, and process improvement.
- Lead by example to design technical solutions and ensure that all software conforms to
the highest quality standards.
- Collaborate with product managers and other business partners to prioritize work and
set goals for the team.
- Refine engineering practices and enact positive change within the team.
- Champion your team's work across the organization.
- Be responsible for the operations of the team's services to ensure stability and uptime.
Basic Qualifications :
- Care deeply about coaching, mentoring, and growing the careers of your team
members.
- 5 to 7 years of technical experience, including 2+ years in an engineering leadership
role.
- Familiarity with most of the technologies listed above.
- Familiarity with devops concepts like performance monitoring, autoscaling, failover,
redundancy, traffic analysis, etc.
- Self-learner, independent, and have excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to write documentation and communicate technical topics with clarity.
- Ability to communicate across multiple teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience automating complex processes.
- Experience with AWS products and services.
- Experience with CI systems such as Jenkins, GitLab, or Github Actions.
- Knowledge/experience with some of the following: Docker, NodeJS, Typescript, Bash,
Groovy
- Experience deploying and operating globally distributed, highly available services.
