Position Overview:

This role is responsible for a team of product engineers and change control professionals. The team is accountable for resolution of product design change requests and concerns with product in serial production. The Manager is a coach, mentor and leader of the team, allowing the team members to perform with autonomy, ownership and efficiency. This manager role will be responsible for organizing and supporting the team in the completion of engineering and change control release work while monitoring key performance indicators like time for change request processing, change order processing and cost of change metrics.

The Product Engineering Manager will work directly with the change control board and production plant to gather information and understand the goals and requirements so that the team can complete the work required in a successful manner. As appropriate, the Product Engineering Manager shall escalate concerns to leadership as needed.

  1. Collaborate closely with program manager on budgeting, project goals, setting resource allocation, project reporting, stakeholder management and risk management.
  2. Lead, develop, and motivate team to achieve established goals.
  3. Provide direct technical leadership to the engineering team
  4. Proactively implement, promote and maintain a safe working environment, through diligence in accident prevention, investigation, equipment maintenance and Zero Incident culture enforcement.
  5. Conduct regular (monthly) 1:1 meetings with each team member to allow non-project related work open discussions. Build employee relations and support the employee in their performance and growth.
  6. Complete performance management through quarterly assessments and year end assessments of team member performance and goal achievement
  7. Interface with key stakeholders (Plant Managers, Change Requesters, Manufacturing Engineering team and others) to ensure the completion of work on time and on budget.
  8. Monitor industry sector trends to maintain compliance with industry recognized agencies. Participate in activities that improve value and efficiency, continuous improvement initiatives.
  9. Apply appropriate Eaton Business System (EBS) processes and problem solving tools
  10. Track and manage against metrics that reflect team performance
  11. Support the Operations teams on product launch, customer support, manufacturing support


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of related engineering experience
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this role. All candidates considered must live within 50 miles of Tualatin OR, Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
  • Ability to work in the US without immediate or future Visa Sponsorship



Position Criteria:

  • Ability to positively influence peers
  • Proficient in Microsoft office tools (i.e. O365, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledgeable of products and customers supported, typically automotive OEMs
  • Demonstrated understanding of release process (CR/CO)
  • Understanding of ISO9001 and IATF 16949 requirements for product design
  • Leader of people, inspired and gets results



Preferred Specialized Knowledge:

  • Master's in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of DFSS, PROLaunch, related Engineering & program tools
  • eMobility background, Power Distribution & Protection systems
  • Applicable Engineering CAD (CREO, SW) and PLM (Enovia) tool use experience
  • Demonstrated 2D drawing creation, GD&T application experience, tolerance stacks
  • Demonstrated experience and application of problem-solving tools (e.g. 8D)
  • Previous leadership experience
