The Engineering Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of technical development teams working on Vendormate Products. The Vendormate products are focused on improving hospital outcomes by managing credentialing for vendors and reps working with the hospital. There are many areas for innovation and we are looking for someone who can help us innovate in healthcare. Working closely with product and other business unit leaders, this role executes the company's technical, architectural, and commercial product initiatives. The role involves working with and managing both software and hardware technical details, including 3rd party vendors as well as people management including mentoring and career guidance. Responsibilities

  • Oversee, teach, and work with product teams within the Vendormate domain
  • Coordinate with Product, Operations, Customer Support and other business leaders
  • Manage hardware vendors and coordinate hardware and software timelines
  • Establish highly effective software engineering teams based on agile and product principles
  • Measure business impact of delivered software
  • Work with the larger GHX organization to find and build out product synergies
  • Communicate with stakeholders about process, goals, and process
  • Help teams organize and manage objectives and key results (OKRs).
  • Evangelize state of the art practices for software product development and delivery
  • Manage, coordinate, and help reduce technical dependencies between teams
  • Hire, train, guide, and coach team members
  • Assist the business to identify additional business value of the enabling technology
  • Assess risks and dependencies and identify mitigation strategies
  • Spend time directly with teams in code, code review, or architecture discussions
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skills

  • A focus on customer first development
  • Software Engineering background, including ability to understand technical architecture and implementation at code level
  • Understanding the principles and application of the Agile Manifesto
  • Understanding of modern, state of the art DevOps and QA strategies
  • Understanding of agile development methodologies and the value therein
  • Effective communication across organizational levels and with a variety of stakeholders, including non-technical audiences
  • Manage development projects from inception to launch
  • Strategic thinking and business awareness
  • Effectively explain impacts of decisions to the product, team, and organization
  • Constructively challenge the status quo and improve outcomes
  • Promoting a common purpose and serving as a catalyst for success
  • Demonstrate emotional maturity, a positive outlook, a cheerful countenance.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to remote offices, vendors, and/or partners, including international travel up to 6 weeks per year.

Required Experience

  • Computer Science or related degree, or a combination of education and related experience.
  • 7+ years of commercial software development experience
  • Experience leading teams with agile, iterative discovery, and rapid delivery
  • Experience working with multiple international development team (e.g., internal remote offices or outsourcing partners)
  • Experience implementing and improving agile development principles.
  • Experience and ability to lead and mentor a team of software engineers building applications using Angular, Java, and other modern stacks
  • Experience managing hardware vendors
  • Experience with AWS services and Infrastructure as Code

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in healthcare
  • 1+ years of prior software development management experience
  • Understanding the writings of Marty Cagan and/or Teresa Torres for Product Management
  • System engineering with both hardware and software
  • Managing teams in robotics, or similar field
  • Building apps with ReactJS and Nodejs as well as mobile apps (Android, iOS)
  • Experience working with international teams

Estimated Salary Range for this Position: $118,200-$157,550The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the GHX's salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. The base salary is one component of GHX's total compensation package for employees.
