We are seeking a Lead Project Engineer in Phoenix, AZ - Posting HRD163169

Be part of the Military APU Project Engineering team, within Honeywell Power Systems, leading the project through System Verification activities to satisfy all customer requirements. You will be the technical leader and be the primary decision maker for work package cost, schedule and technical issues. The successful candidate must be able to apply their experience and knowledge of gas turbine engine installation design/certification (including APU, Propulsion engines, etc.) and strong project engineering experience, to serve as the single point of accountability for engineering work scope and execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads Engineering team through System Verification activities to satisfy all customer requirements.
  • Coordinates Requirements Based Engineering standards for the project and drives Engineering team to follow the standards.
  • Works directly with SMEs and authors of analysis and testing documents to coordinate verification activities that return the necessary data for customer requirements verification.
  • Leads discussions with the customers on the validity of requirements and whether they are verifiable as written.
  • Oversees the configuration management of the customer requirements document and uses the joint change control board process to control customer requirements changes.
  • Leads Engineering team in defining and presenting customer requirements changes when necessary.
  • Strong requirements accounting abilities in order to manage and maintain a requirements set of 2000 plus requirements objects.
  • Travel to the US and/ or internationally - 10%


YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • At least 8 years of demonstrated experience leading engineering teams in a dynamic multi-functional environment
  • Due to export control regulations, this position requires US citizenship status.

  • Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done, do things before being asked by others or forced to by events.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple work streams to answer system level verification questions and to close all disconnects between customer requirements and verification activities.
  • Experience working with external customers.
  • Experience using IBM Rationale DOORs for requirements tracking and traceability. Experience using IBM Rationale DOORS eXtension Language (DXL) is a plus.
  • Experience using IBM Rationale ClearQuest for problem reporting and tracking.
  • Direct APU / turbine engine experience related to design, test, system functionality, and system interaction with the airframe.
  • Program/control account management skills
  • Prior DOORs experience is a plus but not a requirement
