Description: Our client is currently seeking an ITSM Monitoring Tools Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Configure, monitor, and tune/optimize network management, monitoring, and performance tools, as per operational requirements
  • Learn existing network environment services along with the associated infrastructure and the specific metrics used to manage its health and performance
  • Performing day-to-day processes and activities to manage and maintain availability, health, and performance of the ITSM tools at acceptable Service Levels
  • Understanding of network topologies, configurations, and services
  • Implement reporting and dashboards based on monitored network services
  • Perform periodic audits of monitors under each toolset to ensure currency with application and system events and that the monitors will work correctly
  • Setting up of dashboard view/ custom views for specified manager and user views based on requirements
  • On-boarding / off-boarding network devices and other assets to maintain a current and up to date monitoring infrastructure
  • Develop creative solutions to aid in the quick identification and resolution of problems and customer affecting issues
  • Provide Systems Development Lifecycle thought leadership in the design, configuration, deployment of network monitoring tools
  • Participate in internal and customer facing meetings to gather requirements and obtain feedback
  • Update deployed monitoring tools configurations with product upgrades and patches
  • Develop standard operating procedures for NMS tools
  • Should be familiar, from an ITSM perspective, with Fault, Performance, Incident, Configuration, Asset, Problem, and Lifecycle mgmt.

Qualifying Experience and Attributes

  • Candidate must have experience with monitoring applications SolarWinds Orion, Cisco DNAC, ISE, Nagios, LiveAction, and other network or application monitoring products.
  • Must be competent and have experience with app-to-app integration techniques/processes.
  • Must be competent with the base communication protocols (SNMPv2, SNMP v3, SSH, ICMP, NetFlow, HTTP/S, etc.)
  • Strong Linux/Unix background
  • Experience developing API test scripts
  • Should possess more than a passing ability to create code/scripts for solutioning.
  • Should be versatile and flexible in an approach to tools operation/management.
  • Understanding of AWS/Azure Cloud and ServiceNow tools
  • Must be a very quick study and highly self-motivated
  • Possess strong business and strategic planning abilities
  • Highly proficient analytical, organizational and project management skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and presentation skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or 4-6 years equivalent work experience
