Summary:

The Integration Architect is responsible for creating the strategy and implementation approach for the design, organization, and management of integrations across the enterprise. This includes working across organizational segments to develop best practices and standards / patterns / policies for integration - promoting a long-term integration vision and strategy, including establishing a roadmap, instilling best practices, and implementing a robust integration footprint to meet the needs of the business.

The Integration Architect will consult with technology subject matter experts from various disciplines in IT to define the most effective integration solutions to business problems. This person will especially focus on defining and leveraging APIs as well as event-driven data streams, as appropriate for solutions. The Integration Architect will also meet with representatives from the business to understand business opportunities and strategies in order to develop a roadmap for future capabilities within the Integration Platform.

Essential Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Creates a strategy and implementation approach for designing, organizing and managing the integration interface portfolio across the enterprise including interface portfolio assets, and interface-related technical debt
  • Develops and promotes the overall future-state enterprise integration architecture including:
  • Best practices and standards for interfaces (API/ Service, Message, File, Event-driven, etc.), and associated governance processes
  • Selects and helps drive implementation of integration componentry for use in the future-state architecture (e.g., API manager)
  • Harvests technological innovations in integration for pragmatic use
  • Various forms of change-impact analysis related to integration (e.g., integration impacts associated with change demands)
  • Design & Technology alignment with CMS Interoperability Standards / Mandates
  • Accountable for developing an integration roadmap focused on identifying opportunities across the enterprise to create a lean, modern, and robust integration footprint



  • Accountable for overall integration strategy and governance across the business



  • Designs Technical/Integration Architectures, including development, runtime and operations architectures
  • Defines the Integration Platform Governance processes
  • Designs message- and event-driven architectures
  • Responsible for ensuring best practices and modern technologies are utilized between cloud and on-premise solutions
  • Establishes and implements API framework, including security, development, and monitoring tools
  • Develops a capability roadmap for the Integration Platform that aligns to the strategic business direction and opportunities
  • Works closely with key users and project teams to gather requirements and create integration mapping and design specifications to meet business needs
  • Mentors technical teams on integration protocols and conduct design architecture reviews to ensure best practices are followed
  • Able to influence and lead technical architecture design discussions through strong communication, presentation, documentation and modeling skills
  • Conducts design architect reviews, gap analysis and assessment when required
  • Architects, designs and implements small to large-scale integration solutions adopting various technologies as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field (master's degree preferred) or equivalent experience
  • 10 or more years of experience in information solution, or technical architecture, application development, middleware, information analysis, database management or operations in a multi-tier environment
  • More than five years of experience with technology integration and integration architecture, and associated personal maturity, to fulfill the above responsibilities and drive change at an enterprise level
  • Familiarity with information management practices, system development life cycle management, IT services management, infrastructure and operations, and EA and ITIL frameworks
  • Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS)
  • Comprehensive understanding of enterprise application integration (EAI), including SOA, microservices, eventing/messaging, API, open data patterns, and middleware technologies
  • Experience in different platforms including web, mobile, and cloud
  • Knowledge of modern integration methods and components
  • Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns/frameworks
  • Experience with integration components for API management, Integration orchestration, Message-based Integration, File-based integration, Event-driven/CDC integration, Data virtualization, ETL

  • Ability to travel across regions is required
