Position Summary
The Principal Security Engineer supports the AVP of Security Operations in a variety of information security functions within the Information Technology Department.
Essential Job Functions:
- Collaborate within IT and other teams to address identified gaps in areas where there are no appropriate or insufficient information security controls or solutions.
- Creates and identifies standards and best practices and is responsible for building and implementing required architecture in partnership with other IS engineering teams
- Educate, train and work collaboratively across the development teams on building secure platforms and implementing security best practices.
- Mentor and be a technical leader to less experienced team members, improving their skills, their knowledge of our systems and their ability to get things done
- Acts as the group's thought leader on new technologies and their adoption
- Uses expertise to identify potential platform, system, deployment, security and environmental issues prior to service and solution releases, ensuring an on-time release with measurable improvement in KPIs
- Develops and maintains effective processes to automate tasks and ensure compliance with security policies and drives the adoption of a solution across multiple service teams
- Participates as needed in incident response management during non-working hours
- Directly contribute towards advancing the security domain knowledge across the bank through publication and presentations
- Write functional detailed design specs as well as responding to requirement documents and system level test plans
Position Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of hardware systems, system software, networks, and application software development lifecycle methodologies
- Ability to build architectural documentation for new and existing projects
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Must possess a strong team work ethic, with the ability to work with personnel at all levels in all departments.
- Familiar with audit and compliance functions
- Good knowledge of computer terminology.
- Understanding of NIST standards and experience implementing controls mandated by the standards
- Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written
- An inquiring mentality with the ability to think analytically and provide effective feedback, where appropriate
- Work independently with guidance only in most sophisticated situations
