Your Role and Responsibilities

Job Description:

Require a skilled test engineer having experience with enterprise system and solution testing. Responsibilities include the design, development, execution, and maintenance of test cases, debug, opening defects, and working with development to drive closure. The test engineer will be working closely with the worldwide IBM i software development team to address issues and ensure test and development targets are met.

The IBM i Software System Test team is an integral and critical component required to deliver new IBM i releases and IBM i Technical Refreshes (TR). The IBM i Software System Test team configures and maintains multiple customer-like integrated environments needed to test deliverables and simulate IBM i customers using Power 8, 9 and 10 Power Systems environments with many different configurations.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience with the IBM i operating system and knowledge of the IBM i architecture
• Experience and ability to learn IBM i Systems management including installations, upgrades, maintenance, and other support tasks
• Experience with Db2, Java, C, C++, and SQL
• Software test experience with the ability to design and implement use cases and test cases, track and document test progress and results, and ability to analyze and debug hardware and software defects
• Good communication skills and works well within a team-oriented environment
• Required Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience and ability to learn IBM Power Systems management, including familiarity with HMC and VIOS
• Understanding and experience with virtualization technologies
• Assist with customer crit-sit recreate and active participation with Service and Development on quick analysis and closure
• VIOS knowledge and experience related to configuration and set up
• Experience with Agile design practices
