Then we have a great opportunity for you to join the Peoria Proving Ground team at Caterpillar as a Hydraulics Test and Validation Engineer. In this exciting career impacting role, you will be heavily involved with the development of the latest hydraulic systems. You will be instrumental in identifying and solving technical issues prior to the machine going into production. You will partner with and provide validation and technical guidance to global teams at Caterpillar and will have the opportunity to work closely with our hydraulic system and component partners, as well as our Machine Development groups. You will be directly involved in the design, validation, and testing, of new products primarily for hydraulic systems and components, but could include other machine systems. You will continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology. You will also continue to grow your professional network, in an exciting field with strong prospects for growth, both personally and professionally.
This position is located at the Peoria Proving Grounds (PPG) where we test and validate machines from those in current to production to that are the next wave of development and you will be directly involved with on-machine testing. This is an exciting role working on a strong team with the latest Caterpillar machines in the dirt!
Specifically, in this role, you can expect to:
Create and execute validation testing plans, collaboratively with hydraulic system and machine development engineers, controls engineers and other system partners.
Develop and execute tests for new products and/or continuous improvement initiatives.
Analyze data, summarize and document test results.
Prepare in-depth studies for customers and present to high-level internal and external managers.
Prepare required project documentation.
Resolve hydraulic hardware and/or software problems and provide technical/troubleshooting support.
Prepare and present hydraulic system readiness summaries.
Advocate hydraulic system validation expectations and requirements.
Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding scheduling, capabilities and process improvements.
Work with the latest technology and techniques while continuously learning on the job!
To be successful in this role, you must bring (Basic Qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
At least 1-year experience with product design and development process, including New Product Introduction and Continuous Product Improvement
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and complex projects.
Strong skills in program management, communication, and customer relations
Exhibited ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in work group, as well as business units, customers, and suppliers.
Top Candidates Will Also Bring (desired qualifications)
Proving Ground or other testing background
APQP and NPI experience
Previous machine and machine controls experience
EDAQ, DATK or related instrumentation data acquisition and analysis experience
Requires a self-starter with strong hydraulic technical skills and excellent analytical skills
Technical report writing experience
Experience working with global team.
This position may require up to 10% travel.
