Skills:

• In depth experience in Hadoop ecosystem and expert level understanding of the following:
• HDFS, MapReduce, Parquet files, Sqoop, Oozie, Zookeeper, Pig, Hive, Linux OS
• Cloudera distribution of Hadoop - including Impala
• Understands and can speak to the tradeoffs between different BigData and NoSQL systems - must have led and implemented solutions using Hadoop and NoSQL
• Deep database/data store development in both traditional RDBMS as well as Modern Data Architecture (Massively Parallel Processing, NoSQL, Lambda architecture including real-time and batch integration)
• Deep understanding and experience in leading reporting and visualization projects for BigData
• Experience managing scalable Hadoop cluster environments (including multi-cluster)
• Experience with optimization, capacity planning, best practices, road-mapping, and strategy for BigData solutions
• Experience with mentoring, developing, and training junior staff members
• Excellent communication skills - ability to work with stakeholders, technical staff, executive management
• In depth experience implementing and using BigData environments - for analytics, storage, integration with other technologies
• Proven experience in providing direction with Hadoop's ability to address enterprise needs

Responsibilities

• Define strategy for Hadoop ecosystem
• Define strategy for migration of existing data platform (RDBMS) to an MPP platform (Hadoop)
• Provide subject matter expertise and hands on delivery of Cloudier Hadoop
• Provide domain perspective on Hadoop ecosystem
• Work with both technical staff (admins, developers), analysts, and executive management on strategies and road map for an integrated BigData platform combining both traditional and modern data architecture
• Mentor, develop and train technical staff, users of the Hadoop ecosystem
• Perform ongoing capacity management forecasts including timing and budget considerations
• Coordinate root cause analysis (RCA) efforts to minimize future system issues.
• Work with developers to design scalable and supportable infrastructure
