Primary Responsibilities
HDR is seeking a staff-level Geotechnical Engineer to join our Pittsburgh or Plymouth Meeting, PA, office in our Transportation Business Group performing design duties related to HDR's bridge and roadway design projects, as well as ancillary geotechnical design services for our energy and water resources business groups. The primary duties for this position include performing subsurface investigations and evaluations for developing geotechnical design recommendations, and assisting in the preparation of design plans and specifications for construction. More-specific duties include developing subsurface investigation and laboratory testing programs; performing filed test boring inspection activities when required; performing shallow and deep foundation analyses, slope stability analyses, and subgrade evaluations; assisting in design and development of soil and rock cut slope designs; and, preparation of geotechnical engineering reports and other reporting documents. Abilities at this level with task/project management functions and preparation of technical and price estimates are a plus. The candidate should be capable of working independently and accurately under general supervision of senior-level Geotechnical Engineers and/or Geologists.

Required Qualifications
BSCE (Geotechnical Engineering)
MSCE preferred, or ongoing coursework toward Degree.
PE or EIT with short-term eligibility to take PE exam. Candidates hired without their PE will have the title "Geotechnical EIT".
2+ years of geotechnical design experience required.
PennDOT Test Boring Inspection certification preferred, or short-term ability to take test.
Perform drilling inspection for PennDOT, PTC, WVDOH, and other governmental and private projects, when required.
Experience with MS Office, gINT, STABL/Slide, LPILE, Slope/W, GRLWEAP, and other typical Geotechnical software preferred.
PennDOT design experience required. PTC and WVDOH experience a plus.
Experience with Alternative Delivery (Design-Build) is a plus.
