Description
As a part of the dynamic and growing Electric Drive team at Caterpillar, the Motors and Generators team is looking to expand our capability to support development of additional electrification opportunities. The Motors and Generators team is looking for a capable leader with proven experience in design and development of drivetrains and/or electric machines including motors and generators. This role will be located in Mossville, IL and you will be a part of a growing global team of electrification experts.
Job Duties (including but not limited to the following)
Execute structured component NPI & NTI development per Caterpillar standard practices while meeting time, cost and quality goals
Develop component requirements and specifications in collaboration with the system platform team
Develop design concepts using CREO modeling and simulation tools
Develop, detail and support Caterpillar prints while leveraging global organization
Drive APQP tasks and thoroughly review data and information for PPAP signoff
Actively participate in component DFMEAs and PFMEAs
Collaborate with validation teams to develop and execute component validation plans
Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to drive zero defect focused design and process collaboration
Communicate technical information effectively with team members as well as employees in other business units, customers, and suppliers
Drive resolution of CPI and NPI issues using structured problem solving methods such as 5 why and fishbone
Lead and engage with the cross functional global team to support product requirements
Collaborate with global purchasing teams to leverage global supply base for cost and supply chain improvements
Lead and support NPI/CPI builds and teardowns at various stages of the projects
Support knowledge management development including developing standard work
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
5-7 Years of job-related work experience developing drivetrains and/or rotating machines
Top Candidates will also have
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform complex assignments.
Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills.
Experience with hybrid electric transmission development
Experience with battery electric vehicle development
Knowledge of the Technology Readiness Level process and linkage to NPI.
Experienced and Comfortable to support high voltage Lab Testing
Experience of leadership in APQP activities and accountability of PPAP development

This position may require up to 15% travel
