Seals, Tubes & Hardware Group within PSLD is currently seeking an Engineering Project Team Leader to lead a team of FEA analysts working on design and validation activities related to rubber components and seals used on Caterpillar machines. As an Engineering Specialist, you will serve as the elastomer FEA subject matter expert on projects and assignments that support and enhance Caterpillar product performance, durability, reliability, and serviceability. This position is located at Mossville, IL.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Simulation of elastomer products in engine and machine applications to meet customer requirement.
Coaching of junior members in elastomer finite element techniques.
Simulation of elastomer pin-joint sealing systems to keep dirt out.
Design and manage the development of next generation track seals through simulation and lab testing.
Provide support for the development of bench tests used to validate concepts. (Iterative process)
Collaborate with internal customers to resolve issues that might arise with their parts.
Create and deliver technical reports.
Research and develop new elastomer simulation techniques & methods.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering curriculum.
5+ years of non-linear finite element analysis running non-linear simulation of rubber components (seals, mounts, elastomer bearings, rubber suspension components, etc.)
Previous project leadership/team lead experience
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Experience using Abaqus, MSC.Marc or Ansys
Experience with rubber fatigue simulation
Experience with rubber molding injection simulation
Experience with dynamic simulation
Proficiency in testing of elastomer materials & components
Experience with writing FEA sub-routines using Fortran and/or Python
Good understanding of different molding processes of elastomers
Experience with solid/ 3D CAD modeling (CREO etc)
Demonstrate high level of attention to detail
Additional Information:
This position does offer relocation.
This position requires up to 10% travel.
