Description
This person reports to the Machine Systems Technical Manager in Cat Electronics, a central organization that supports electronic hardware, software, and system development for Caterpillar. This job role is responsible for supervising the machine system and software validation team. This team utilizes test benches to simulate Caterpillar equipment in order to perform validation of electrical systems and software prior to release for use on the actual machine. In this role, you will manage the direction of the team in developing the test equipment, processes and skills required to accomplish validation activities aligned with Caterpillar development goals.
Job Duties
The person selected for this role will coach and facilitate the development of 15 Caterpillar employees plus Agency staff and Contract resources to develop collaborative relationships among themselves and with other cross functional engineering teams. Key responsibilities include creating and maintaining an organizational culture which encourages collaboration; managing the development and procurement of test equipment, continuously improving test processes, and ensuring that cost, quality, and schedule objectives are met. This role requires a long range focus on business and technology strategy across a wide range of hardware and software components that are created by Cat Electronics and leveraged by Caterpillar machine groups.
This position requires excellent human relations, interpersonal, and communication skills and the ability to deal with sensitive issues, accurately assess risk, and function effectively during periods of uncertainty. Must have the ability to influence others to achieve objectives and an understanding of electronic technology that enables you to discuss new applications or potential solutions to complex problems.
Basic Qualifications
Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a closely related technical degree
10+ years of job-related work experience
Top Candidates will also have
5+ years of work experience related to Caterpillar electronic hardware, software, or sub-systems
3+ years of embedded systems or software validation experience
Familiarity with internal Caterpillar organizations and their responsibilities to accelerate complex issue resolution
Demonstrated team leadership and collaboration skills
Previous supervisory experience
Strong communication skills

This position requires approximately 10% travel.
