As a Software Engineering Manager, Growth, you will be a key contributor to our user facing growth services, including supporting many of the key touch points of our students that are interested in joining the Udacity ecosystem. Growth engineering builds and iterates on the technical systems that support the user conversion funnel (user activation, exploration, discovery, conversion/payment, and retention). You will be working with a focused team to develop the infrastructure and systems that serve this user journey and create solutions that highlight Udacity's unique advantages.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of software engineers, including task planning and code reviews
- Drive technical projects and provide leadership in an innovative and fast-paced environment
- Create, execute and communicate strategic direction
- Be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and success of complex technical projects
- Work closely with stakeholders and product management team to ensure we're building the best products
- Make Udacity the best working experience any one person on your team has ever had
- Mentor Engineers to help them grow their careers
Qualifications:
- Passionate about education
- 5 years relevant work experience including 3 years leading a team that delivered on customer needs
- Experience as a hiring manager
- Experience building reliable, maintainable, and scalable systems and products
- Expertise with front-ends, API design, and data modeling
- Strong programming experience in two or more of the following: Golang, Javascript/Typescript, Ruby
