Description
The Electric Drivetrain Sr Test Engineer performs lab testing of advanced drivetrain components and systems at the Caterpillar Global R&D Headquarters in Mossville, Illinois. These activities are in support of both new product development programs and continuous product improvement projects. Primary development is focused on Motor, Generators, and Power Inverters for traction applications.
Position involves working in a team environment on challenging new technology development. Electric drivetrain development is an exciting job opportunity and this technology continues to expand to new product lines. Future electric drivetrain programs will continue to provide customers with machines that do more work and consume less fuel, while providing customers with lower owning and operating costs.
Job Duties
Working with the product design team to define validation requirements.
Performing lab tests to validate components from a performance and product quality perspective.
Analyzing test data
Communicate results and making recommendations to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units
Identifying and troubleshooting hardware and software issues
Validating and implementing product solutions
Documenting findings in technical reports.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum plus 3 to 5 years' experience or a Master's degree in an Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum plus 1 to 2 years' experience

Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills
Previous powertrain product development experience (design, test, or analysis).
Demonstrated ability to work on complex assignments.
Excellent mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical systems
Understanding of electrical systems
Good hands on and troubleshooting skills
Strong communication and meeting facilitation background
Ability to work with others in a team-based environment
