About the Role

We are looking for a talented Head of System Engineering -- you will lead a small team of engineers passionate about creating the best possible micro mobility vehicles. You will manage systems and embedded engineering teams across all stages of engineering development including system architecting, requirements definition, concept, prototyping, design, verification and validation, production, and support. Responsibilities

  • Build, lead, and scale system and embedded engineering teams to provide multi-functional technical leadership from product concept to mass production
  • Lead and mentor an internal team of System Engineers that are driving both internal and 3rd party teams and resources
  • Demonstrate effective leadership skills in inspiring, driving and executing results through others; autonomy to develop and/or upgrade talent as needed to ensure success
  • Communicate clearly and frequently with the direct development teams as well as with the broader cross-functional organization and senior management, to ensure that technical plans are successfully executed and that business segment objectives are met
  • Ensure that comprehensive System Requirements documents are formulated and that designs are compatible with technical goals and marketing requirements
  • Plan and execute hardware/software integration testing, performance characterization, requirements analysis, and risk analysis
  • Work multi-functionally with product management, program management, engineering, quality, manufacturing and regulatory groups on product and project risk management, usability, human factors, and regulatory standards compliance
  • Coordinate and perform root-cause device investigations, collecting input from quality, and all engineering functions, including software, electrical, mechanical, and firmware engineers

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or equivalent plus at least 15 years of meaningful work experience, or Master’s degree plus at least 12 years of related experience, or Ph. D. in engineering plus at least 10 years of work experience
  • 10+ years of proven experience in engineering management in a relevant field with emphasis on System, Electrical, or Firmware Development
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Consistent track record of direct and indirect management of resources and teams
  • Knowledge of general standard methodologies across engineering disciplines (ie. FW, ME, EE)
  • Deep experience developing, integrating and fixing electro-mechanical systems
  • Attention to details and ability to work independently
