About The Role


As Director of Architecture, you will work with leaders across Esper to align and design tech architecture with enterprise standards, procedures, and targets. You will have ownership over system architecture, device scalability, and creative freedom to influence Esper’s enhanced OS. 


You will manage a small team of talented architects who will play a cross-organizational role in defining, maintaining and innovating on our entire architecture stack , with an emphasis on system coherence and business growth.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • You will be responsible for the overall architecture of Esper’s Device, SaaS platform
  • You will work with leaders across the organization to ensure the alignment of technical projects and initiatives
  • You will deliver game-changing experiences that customers love and would create meaningful differences in their business operations
  • You will manage a team of architects, developing, mentoring, and retaining world-class talent
  • Use Metrics to make key decisions and identify key opportunities for product growth and development.

What Defines Success

  • Systems Architecture: You will lead the architecture team that works across multiple teams and stacks at scale, which includes but is not limited to Cloud, dedicated devices, data platform, system integrations and more!
  • Scale: You are well aware of factors that need to be considered when systems operate at global scale, including costs, performance, observability, and high availability. You will be factoring in successful scalability to the Esper platform
  • Data: You will also be involved in architecting a data platform for our customers and business teams. Providing them with data insights to improve their own business goals and growth
  • Device Fleets: You will architect our device agents for modularity and reliability on how our cloud can communicate with devices and back, including focus on optimizing battery usage and network bandwidth usage and a series of other considerations
  • Security: You will make sure that our customer’s endpoints and fleets are protected with secure software deployments and neat, tight processes
  • Software Supply Chains: You will also be responsible for building processes and systems that enable our customers to deploy their software into their fleets with tremendous control, granularity, and security
  • Esper Enhanced Android OS: Esper has its own flavor of Android OS, customizable for a plethora of use cases and popular hardware platforms, which works seamlessly with Esper as a whole

What We're Looking For

  • 8-10 years working experience
  • Experience in a leadership role, supervising engineers and project ownership
  • Deep understanding of large scale cloud applications
  • The behavior of an owner and evangelist
