As a Software Development Engineering Manager for the ACQUIRE domain, you'll provide platform, product and customer experience leadership in a fast-paced, agile environment. You will be responsible for the design of complex, multi-system environments taking into account production, testing and development environments. The role requires critical review and analysis of business requirements for both internal and external clients. You will provide expert knowledge of technical architecture and serve as Subject Matter Expert to Senior Technology managers, Business, Operations and Technology teams. You should have a background in designing solutions across a number of Acquisition and retention related capabilities including customer-facing UI experiences, Offer engines, and decisioning.

The Applications Development Group Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Team. Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function and how they interact in order to achieve the objectives of the function. Applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Generally accountable for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/ geographic regions. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication may be necessary. Accountable for the end results of an area. Exercises control over resources, policy formulation and planning. Primarily affects a sub-function. Involved in short- to medium-term planning of actions and resources for own area. Full management responsibility of a team or multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)
  • Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management and planning while monitoring end results
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues
  • Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards
  • Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals
  • Provide evaluative judgement based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources
  • Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
  • Demonstrate the ability to attract senior talent and multiple functions from inside and outside of company. Teach others how to set high organizational performance standards, determine performance measures and goals and establish a leadership bar. This will require the ability to facilitate understanding of broader organizational tenets and strategic goals for department.
  • Influence your team's technical and business strategy by making insightful contributions to team priorities and approach. You take the lead in identifying and solving ambiguous problems, architecture deficiencies, or areas where your team's software bottlenecks the innovation of other teams. Make software simpler.
  • Demonstrate technical influence over 3-4 teams, either via a collaborative software effort or by increasing their productivity and effectiveness by driving software engineering best practices (e.g., Security, Quality, Operational Excellence, etc.).



Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in applications development
  • Experience in management
  • Experience managing global technology teams
  • Working knowledge of industry practices and standards
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.



Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master's degree preferred
