Who is Jornaya?

At Jornaya, we believe in using innovative technology and data that empowers companies to connect with their customers and prospects at the right time and in the most meaningful way. We take pride in helping our clients understand and apply our solutions and data to improve their digital marketing strategies in new and creative ways. When our clients win, we win.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced DevOps engineer with a background in cloud operations and infrastructure automation to join our high performing engineering organization. As part of our DevOps team, you will use tools such as Ansible and Terraform to build, manage, monitor and scale our Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure as we grow. You will both participate with our team and lead initiatives to build new and improve existing infrastructure.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 5+ years working in a DevOps role within a SaaS environment

  • Significant experience managing and working with Linux-based systems

  • Significant experience building, scaling, and operating services on AWS

  • Experience using Ansible, Chef or similar, modern configuration management tools to automate the configuration of servers / virtual machines

  • Experience building and provisioning infrastructure using Terraform

  • Experience in building Continuous Integration / Deployment pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Gitlab CI, Bamboo, or Rundeck

  • Experience participating in on-call rotations and leading the resolution of production-affecting incidents during business and off business hours

  • Experience as an Agile team member (Scrum/Kanban) and being Agile/Lean

Nice to Have Qualifications (if you do not have them, we will teach you!)

  • Experience using containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes for application development

  • Experience automating virtual machine build processes using Packer

Personal Attributes

  • You are clever, self-motivated, and not happy unless you’re getting things done

  • You are self-directed and can deliver functional solutions given high-level requirements and not a step-by-step guide

  • You are passionate about defining reliable infrastructure as code

  • You are excited to be the “go-to engineer” for core systems on which all other services rely

  • You excel in a collaborative environment where your co-workers rely on your contributions to help guide the team to success

  • You are excited by the prospect of working in a dynamic, diverse, collaborative, transparent, non-hierarchical, and ego-free culture and you are excited by the prospect of proactively helping this culture evolve

  • You are committed to helping your team be as high performing as possible

  • You know that work-life balance is important and act accordingly

  • You don't object to writing minimally sufficient documentation or doing whatever else is needed to ensure delivery of a complete product

  • You are not happy unless you understand and can see how your efforts directly impact your customers

We’re headquartered in Conshohocken, PA, but our employees can work from anywhere in the US!
