Job Summary
Comcast is looking for a talented and dedicated Software Development Engineer to support the setup, configuration and maintenance of tools eco system to enhance the development of CPE devices. CPE development business is responsible for project deliveries and innovation initiatives for the devices that uses Comcast's Reference Design Kit (RDK), which is deployed at Comcast on over 15 million devices spanning video and broadband.
Comcast's development environment is advanced and highly integrated. It uses industry standard tools that are combined effectively to support a fast-moving, agile development cycle. The combination of these tools running on cloud infrastructure, coupled with an effective use of Open Source code, allows Comcast to deliver features and products against aggressive timelines.
Job Description
Core Responsibilities
- As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for research, setup and maintenance of high quality tools environment to support relevant project deliveries. The tools & utilities that you help in developing and maintaining will be used by highly efficient and fast paced project development and integration teams. You will work closely with your peers in Development, Test and Release Management. You are expected to function as a technical leader and a Subject Matter Expert for the components that you enhance and maintain.
Preferred Requirements
- At least 5 years of Linux-based development experience .
- Strong working knowledge of continuous integration tools, ideally Jenkins CI.
Key Requirements
- Overall 5-7 years of experience with BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field
- Experience in deployment of Java web applications (Apache HTTP + Tomcat, Jetty), Ruby on Rails applications (Nginx + Puma) and DB (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
- Working knowledge of Core Java
- Strong working knowledge in one or more of the following scripting languages - Bash, Python and Groovy.
- Good working knowledge of Git and Gerrit.
- Gerrit plugin development experience a big plus
- Good understanding of software best practices such as Agile-based development, coding guidelines, code reviews etc.
- Proficient in specifying system level requirements and creating design and usage documentation.
