DevOps Engineer
San Diego, CA

What You’ll Do

 

Build and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure, automation, and tooling to support the software development life cycle, and robust monitoring and alerting of our unique restaurant-ordering platform-as-service. Directly support a platform that processes millions of transactions for internationally-renowned brands in the quick service and casual dining industry such as Burger King, Baskin Robbins, and many others as we scale globally. Responsible for the availability, performance, monitoring, release engineering, and incident response, among other things, for the platforms and services the company operates. Ensure enterprise services have reliability and uptime aligned to defined service levels. Focus on optimizing existing systems, building cloud infrastructure, and eliminating manual work through automation. Provide innovative approaches to infrastructure as code, continuous integration, and continuous deployment. Collaborate with to team resolve software problems and provide applicable technical solutions. Build and support application environments that are deeply integrated with AWS. Analyze and troubleshoot large-scale distributed systems in the public cloud. Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like creative automation, configuration management solutions, and evolve systems by driving changes that improve reliability and velocity. Build custom tools, instrumentation, and monitoring solutions across the entire application stack, including third party APIs and Point-of-Sale systems, to ensure service availability. Improve and maintain monitoring and logging solutions that measure availability, latency, and overall system health for production systems. Provide and manage cloud Infrastructure through automation and infrastructure as code. Restore healthy operation of applications and services through sustainable incident response and blameless post-mortems. Follow and monitor security and compliance best practices. Configure continuous integration pipeline and release automation. Work with partners and vendors on technical improvements and fixes. Constantly research new technology and techniques that will benefit the team, the company, and its clients. Ensure that the pipeline is running smoothly. Ensure CI/CD pipeline is intact and address any software issues or failure. Troubleshoot, analyze, and provide fixes to issues. Interact with cross-functional teams. Perform DevOps coordination and collaboration requiring daily integration between DevOps, Software Engineering, Quality Engineering, product Management, Program Management, Information Technology & Cyber Security. Work on automation backlog to plan and execute automation and configuration management constantly. Responsible for infrastructure management through maintenance and management the infrastructure required for CI/CD pipeline. Work on backup, high availability, new platform setup. Manage Legacy and Next Gen Public Systems and Infrastructure. Support legacy systems, and actively plan and implement migration strategies and practices to the latest systems and infrastructure. Leverage available open source and other approved tools. Constantly explore new tools supportive of DevOps. Develop infrastructure, system, process, and other documentation in support of DevOps operations. Undertake self-learning and training as required. Ensure knowledge and capabilities are supportive of industry, company, and DevOps best practices.

Skills You’ll Bring

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field of study.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Plus five (5) years of relevant experience building and maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring infrastructure availability (uptime), automation, performance, monitoring, release engineering, and incident response management.

The Tech Stack

DevOps programming experience in at least one language such as Groovy, Script, .NET (C# Core), or Python; and experience troubleshooting JVM-based microservices in a high-performance, high-availability environment.

Alternate education: Master’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field.

ALTERNATE EXPERIENCE: Plus two (2) years of relevant experience building and maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring infrastructure availability (uptime), automation, performance, monitoring, release engineering, and incident response management.
