SeatGeek Enterprise is our innovative open-ecosystem enterprise ticketing software that allows teams, venues, and promoters to efficiently run their businesses and captivate fans.
We're proud to partner with some of the most recognized names across the globe including the Dallas Cowboys, Brooklyn Nets, and Liverpool F.C., as well as the NFL, MLS, half of the English Premier League, and theaters across NYC's Broadway and London's West End.
As a Database Reliability Engineer, you'll improve the SeatGeek Enterprise database technology ecosystem, database efficiency, and oversee SeatGeek's production database systems. SeatGeek's database layer supports millions of transactions on a weekly basis, which means efficient, well-tuned systems have to be the default when it comes to deploying new queries, evaluating indexes and managing our SQL Server platform. The Database Reliability team is the backbone that supports SeatGeek Enterprise as we continue to grow our primary ticketing platform and support clients such as the Dallas Cowboys, Brooklyn Nets, and Manchester City FC.
What you'll do
  • Develop and refine processes to review overall database system performance across all SeatGeek Enterprise clients
  • Assist in performance testing with our team of SREs
  • Plan for future growth capacity
  • Participate in on-call / incident management schedule
  • Assist with continued client migrations from legacy data centers to AWS
  • Partner with the Enterprise engineering organization to help support them in getting the most out of our database systems
  • Train and collaborate with other departments on how to run production database systems and write effective queries

Who you are
You love database and query design but have an even greater love for efficiency and tuning. You make decisions based on data and are not afraid of experimenting to get the information you need. You also have the following:
  • Passion for craftsmanship and product. You have well-considered opinions about how reliable database systems should work, and hold yourself and your code to a high standard
  • SQL Server experience, primarily 2016 and 2019, including high availability and DR solutions
  • AWS experience, including RDS and general experience with VMs, containers, and serverless compute platforms
  • Experience with operating systems (primarily Windows 2019), configuration management, and "Infrastructure as Code"
  • Scripting in Powershell, T-SQL or other interpreted languages such as Python and Ruby
  • Familiarity with configuration management systems such as Chef, Ansible, Puppet, Salt
  • Familiarity with continuous integration, delivery, testing, and code deployment (using tools such as Gitlab CI and Jenkins)
  • Experience with extracting useful telemetry data to address issues and forecast future growth using tools like Datadog
  • A focus on improving system architecture, diagnosing shortcomings and implementing recommendations based on analyzed evidence

Perks
  • Equity stake
  • Flexible work environment, allowing you to work as many days a week in the office as you'd like or 100% remotely
  • A WFH stipend to support your home office setup
  • Flexible PTO
  • Up to 16 weeks of paid family leave
  • 401(k) matching program
  • Health, vision, dental, and life insurance
  • Annual subscriptions to Headspace, Ginger.io, and One Medical
  • $120 a month to spend on tickets to live events
  • Annual subscription to Spotify, Apple Music, or Amazon music

An Insider's view of SeatGeek

What are some social events your company does?

The importance of gathering is baked into our DNA at SeatGeek! We always take time to celebrate milestones together, whether in person or virtually, and, while we throw an amazing End of Year party, my favorite events are a little more personal! We empower employees to create their own social events from fitness classes to crafting or or tv nights!

Erin

Workplace & People Programs Manager

What projects are you most excited about?

An ongoing project I am excited about is the redesign of one of the core flows in our app. It is a high impact, cross functional initiative and I love how we’ve been able to implement a new technical foundation, introduce new features, and improve the user experience. I’m looking forward to the initial release and gathering insights from consumers!

Jenny

Software Engineer II

How do you empower your team to be more creative?

We encourage teams to solve problems and create delightful customer experiences, not implement pre-defined solutions. Our teams leverage research/data to understand our customers needs and behaviors, but we also believe that giving teams the space to be creative during a discovery phase opens the possibilities of what they can come up with.

Director, Product Management
